Forecast & Cold Front Walleyes

[T-Bone]

Looks like a strong cold front moving through Sunday/Monday...toque and gloves weather while traveling on the water. Not the nicest forecast I've ever seen. Any suggestions for locating post-cold front 'eyes on Kipawa (or Ogas for Dog and John C.)?

Fri, 7/25/2014: 75° 55° Clouds and sun with a shower
Sat, 7/26/2014: 74° 56° A thunderstorm in spots
Sun, 7/27/2014: 69° 49° Mostly cloudy with a t-storm
Mon, 7/28/2014: 63° 45° Periods of rain
Tue, 7/29/2014: 63° 53° Rain, mainly early in the day
Wed, 7/30/2014: 59° 50° Cloudy with showers
Thu, 7/31/2014: 65° 51° Occasional morning rain 
Fri, 8/1/2014: 71° 55° Clouds limiting sunshine

The image I keep running in my head is my black lab Jack shaking wildly after he gets soaked during his bath; that'll be us coming in off the water every day. You know what I mean...

I will go with the weather on the top of our site.  It looks a whole lot warmer.

Looks like the weather we get in june.
My thoughts.......The water is warm and sinking.
It will take quite a bit to affect the walleye.
look at the fishfinder to see where they are.
Keep fishing your 20 foot zones.
Bring lots of meat because fish meals will be non-existant

Our group picked this time of year for a lot of reasons.... less bugs (supposedly), no hatch(es) to deal with (supposedly), a more consistent and stronger bite (supposedly), no spawn to negotiate with and warmer temps (definitely)...

For me raining and 50-70 is better than rain (or snow) and 20-50... so I say bring on the rains and 50 degree nights, it could be a lot worse, a lot worse! (My point here is that I don't go to Canada to experience San Diego'esque weather... IF I wanted that I'd go to San Diego and take an open ocean charter. Wait a minute, I may be on to something there... :-)

lastly, I love all the cloud cover and low light conditions (new moon) we have coming up.... should be great for a good bite throughout the day and night, just need to find them!

Quick spray down all your boat gear with water repellant spray!... less shaking required afterwards.

Right on Dog!  We'll be able to fish for walleye's all day long with the cloud cover, and as I am sure we have all experienced the bite is usually good when it's raining.  I just need to make sure I pack extra batteries for the bilge pump.

Another layer of fleece, a rain suit at the ready, and a little persistence will the in order. But who cares...I'm up on Kipawa.

Makes me glad that I sprayed down my jacket with water repellant.  Now to hope that it works as advertised and that the jacket is warm enough. 
I don't have time to unload, unpack, repack for chillier weather and reload.  My trucis loaded and ready to roll.   I going with what I got (light off the fireplace!)...

I dont see any days with an east wind and my office will be 72 degrees and dry so I will trade you . It may slow them down a bit but one of the biggest issues with that forecast is that the bite could happen any time of the day. I always go through this same mental anguish about the conditions and this year the late spring. you cant control it . good  luck.

Legendary Gerry of 3 Seasons always said that he "could not guaranty the weather" and, that  "the weather does effect the fishing" so, "the only way to deal with that is to make it a two week trip." Then, "you are sure to experience good fishing during the second week if the first week is bad." Bass fishing's  Homer Circle always said, that the best times to go fishing is "when it's raining.... and when it's not."  That about covers it.  One thing is for sure is, we can't catch em if our line isn't in the water so, I'll gladly take the shivers when I'm there at Kipawa and worry about drying out when I'm back at home and have more time to sulk.  It's all good when it's a safe trip.  Enjoy!

CC - I like the "you are sure to experience good fishing during the second week if the first week is bad."   This will be my first 2 week experience, and hopefully not the last...I'm hoping though that both weeks are good.  All I know, either way it's better than the alternative....August 2nd can't get here quick enough but the 16th can take it's time.
