Just to let everyone know that kipawa is ice free at this end of the lake. I boated in from Mungo bay yesterday. Had to break some ice. Followed the shoreline to long narrows, then it was clear sailing to the lodge. Beautiful morning, good cup of stove top coffee, what good be better. :)

T-Bone

From what I understand, there is still ice up in the NE arm of Kipawa, per Reggie's comments on the other board. And, the satellite image confirms that. So...just about a week from opener and still ice on the lake. Wow. I don't think we can call it yet...so let's wait and see.

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

May 14th is also looking good from way down here.

Walleye Ray

So do we have an official Ice-Out date as yet ??

Regards, W Ray.

T-Bone

We do indeed; relying on "at the lake" observations and multiple data points across the north, central, and eastern parts of the lake we have concluded that TODAY, May 9th, is the official ICE OUT date. Reggie (3 Seasons), Brian (Alwaki), and Wayne (Kipawa Lodge) have confirmed...ice is gone.

So, the big winner of the Leech Tamer Big Time Super-Colossal Ice Out Date Prize is....T-Bone.   ;D.

Doesn't seem fair, does it?

Congrats T-Bone, you have won the ultimate prize, every fishermans dream a leech tamer bag. I think ice-out 2015 should start today so no one has an advantage (lol).
