Luhr Jensen Dipsy Divers

Has anyone ever used the Luhr Jensen Dipsy Diver setup for Lake Trout and if you did what was your experience?  Looking into it for our trip this year.  Any comments or suggestions appreciated.

@Fishin Mortician yes, trie dthem last year for the first time. No luck with them for me on Lake O. I'm gonna give them another shot this year on kipawa.

Divers seem to add a lot of drag. We use steel line and kroc spoons

My set before going to riggers was dipseys. I had a couple different sizes,I used line counter reels with braid

Braid to dipsey- release side was rubber snubber then approx 6ft leader of mono then lure. I found the braid to cut thru the water better than mono.

Hooked a lot of trout with that set up but also dragged alot of small ones around too.

if you are planning on using a dipsy at ice out condition, make sure you use a short, heavy action rod as there is quite a bit of drag...even a small dipsy.
if you are planning on fishing during the summer after the water has flipped, don't bother. You cant get that deep.

I wasn't able to get up to Alwaki lodge last year but we are booked again this year and I used dipsy divers 2 years ago.  It probably caught 2 maybe 3 to 1 over my two downriggers.  The bigger Lakers were caught on the downriggers but my 9 year old son had a blast reeling them in on the dipsy diver.  I ran the Dipsy diver with snubber, with 3 to 4 ft fluorocarbon leader to a silver Williams (hooks removed and swivel in its place, then run 12 to 18" leader to a worden wobbler (retied with beads).

We always went up for Canada Day week.  This year we are booked a week later.
