As most here know I have a camp at the red pine chutes. We have no bass here, yet. I kinda like being on a walleye lake catching them, finding them, then figuring out how to catch them. Bass are easy game for me, but an awesome fight. I've got some nice walleye over 4 pounds that fight with the best of bass. I spent almost 15 yrs fishing Georgian Bay from Waubaushene to Midland to Honey Harbour. Few walleye but a small mouth bass factory 5 pounders are almost common. But  I kinda miss fishing for them sometimes. That usually lasts about 5 minutes lol. My question is how far west to need to boat to find some bass. I'd like to do it once in a while.

I have fished my whole life on Kipawa.
Mind you, not as hard core as a lot of you on this forum but fished it a fair amount just the same.
And until reading it for the first time a few months ago on this forum, I had no idea there were Bass in Kipawa!
The first time I read it, I was sure the posters were talking about a different lake LOL
I even talked to some local buddies who pretty much LIVE on the lake and they were convinced I was trying to pull a fast one on them!

I'm interested to hear where they are...may have to point the boat that way just to try and catch one myself.
@puckster_guy nice looking catches, just one problem, the maple leaf hat in the one pic  :-\

My team ;)  I was ten when I watched them win their last cup.....Just never thought I wouldn't live long enuff to see them win another LOL :) What can I say...I survived the Ballard years The soap opera going on now is old hat. Love Georgian bay bass Tons of nice musky too. Pike were almost a pest.

Its all good my man....my dad is a leafs fan to the core, the rest of the family is habs fans so we have fun with it all.
In the end, just sitting down and having a cold beer while watching any game is one of the good things in life so, it's all good.

Sorry, I totally highjacked your bass thread...I'll stop now!

The TBL and Two Moons area have Huge bass. Last year my son caught a 19", 18" 17.5", and a 16" one evening while fishing for eyes.  A few years back Capt. Guy (RIP) caught a 20.5. So far it hasn't seemed to have  bothered the walleye population. They're fun to catch, but not near as tasty as a walleye!

Hummm good to know.....
Furthest I've been up that way is to 3 seasons, seems like a good enough excuse to venture a little further.
Nice end of the lake, remote, not very developed.

Wonder what's the best way to convince my wife we need to go explore here (she's not huge into fishing LOL)

And you're right @Oarin, nothing tastes as good as them IMO

This is my 28th year on Kipawa, To date there has been no bass at this end of the lake. They seem to be staying at the north west end of the lake. All of my guests are here to catch walleye,so I hope this trend continues. I was raised on Georgian bay and guided around Sans Souci area most of my teen age life. We caught lots of small mouth and pike, but few walleye. Don't really want bass here. Just my 2 cents.

I don't want bass here Wayne. but I'd like the option of making a day trip and catching a few. I really hope they don't make it to my end of the lake. I like it the way it is TYVM.

600 miles north

PG there are Bass in sail bay near the government dock in Laniel. Two years ago is when we first noticed them. One morning we caught two of the fighters right off our dock and then cast the shoreline all the way back to the end of the bay catching Bass all the way back. The kids sure had fun that morning. We have seen them ever since then swimming around the dock. Its only a matter of time until they make it your way.
600 miles north is where I'd rather be!

I do agree with the general sentiment of not wanting bass in the lake.....
But it seems they are in the lake.
Begs to question, have they always been here?
As in whats the earliest back anyone can remember catching a bass in kipawa?

How small mouth bass ended up in Lake Kipawa is a seldom told story and that's all I'll say about it.

However, if you want to have some fun catching small mouth bass in the north end of the lake, throw a slip bobber with a 3 foot lead to a hook and leech close to shore at Two Rocks in Baie du Huard. Great distraction for 30 minutes or so.

There are no bass in hunters lake. Took a day off last year and went looking for them. The closest location is still about 15 miles from  Hunters. Stopped in to see Reggie at 3 seasons and he directed me to some islands in front of loon bay. Picked up 5 in an afternoon. Fun too catch, but  I sure hope they stay there!! again just my opinion.

600 miles north

Like Jay, I've heard the rumor of how the Bass were introduced into the lake, but with out knowing for sure if it's true or not I'm not going to throw anyone under the bus. I will say that I haven't noticed any impact so far on the walleye population where we are, BUT... it has to have an impact in some way. Maybe more competition will help everything thrive... time will tell.

Just got back a few hours ago after spending 4 days.  The Bass are from Laniel to MacKenize Island.  Friends caught 35 of them 2 days ago in Macadam's Bay.  Other friends were catching them in the 3 1/2 to 4 lb class.
