Last week I had an awesome week fishing with a few guys.  It was my first time at Kipawa and we stayed at Taggart Bay.   I loved it and now I'm trying to convince my wife and kids to go.  Can anyone suggest a family friendly place to stay?  2 moons looks awesome, but I'm not sure I can sell the idea of being accessible only by boat.    My kids would love kayaking, canoeing etc...but fishing would keep them entertained for more than a few hours.  Thanks!

Congrats on your first trip to Kipawa and welcome to the forum....

If you want a place that is accessible by vehicle you may want to check out Miwapanee or Kipawa Outpost.
Both are located in Kipawa village so they're also a short drive from Temiscaming should you need supplies that you can't get right in Kipawa.

Miwapanee:
My wife and kids (daughters, 3 and 6) are going to be renting two of the Miwapanee outpost camps at different points in July.
The outpost camps are boat access only, however they also have a good assortment of cabins on the main land.
We had some friends with a young one stay at one of the main land cabins last year and they had fun.
I can say first hand all the cabins I've seen are very well kept.
Boats can be rented with the cabins as well so you can head out with the kids fishing.....

Kipawa Outpost:
I have never stayed at their cabins or know anyone who has, but they do rent them according to their website.
They also have houseboat rentals as well which is a great way to get out and see the lake as well as get some fishing time in.
Some of our family rented a houseboat a few years back and we loved the relaxing method of seeing the lake.
The boats are big enough that even if the lake gets nasty (due to weather) you always feel safe.

Both Jamie (Miwapanee) and Paul (Outpost) are great to deal with.....

I don't know the Laniel area well enough to comment on vehicle accessible places in that neck of the woods, but there's a lot of folks on this sight that will and I'm sure they'll chime in soon enough.
Good luck in your search:

Thanks, I'll check them out!

Also, I should clarify that I didn't mean Taggart Bay  wasn't "family friendly"...just not quite enough entertainment for my kids who aren't content to fish all day.

Totally understand.......no need to even explain!
