A plant shutdown. What better place to use it? Besides with almost 20 yrs at my job I now have 4 weeks. Most are spent at camp. Also with my kids grown and moved out(my oldest daughter starting a family soon) I have paid my dues and earned my camp. I had to sell my house and move into an apartment. I used the equity to buy and build. I've worked hard and earned it, by God's grace. So It's time for Joe to start looking after Joe. Retirement starts in four years. Can't wait. :)

Where are you located Joe? I think we're squeezing a mini trip next Tues - Thurs.

@Canuckbass, you at Eunice Lodge again next week?
If so we're just up from you in Dead Bear Bay all next week, stop by for a drink....
Goes for anyone else in the area.

Hey Joe,
Just got back home Saturday night...been busy getting back into the normal routine (if you can call this normal!).
Sorry we didn't make it to your neck of the woods.
We did a trip to Laniel early on in the vacation which went well.
Our plan was to do another longer boat trip and head towards your neck of the woods sometime in the last few days of our vacation, but the high winds and thunder storms kept us close to camp.
Hope you're enjoying the fun. I'll have a trip report posted in the next few days I hope.

Totally forgot you where in Dead Bear, we went into the bay Wednesday night to get away from the high wind, we found a small school just past the island on our way back out to main lake. Dead Bear is close to us. It was more of a work trip then fishing, lots of work to keep camp up. @Fort Wisers

Hey @Canuckbass no worries at all.....
We saw you anchored down toward our end that night and were amazed that you could even hold the boat still with all that wind.
Glad you found some fish!!
Yep, camp isn't always the "vacation" that it's cracked up to be is it.....that's half the reason we sold ours and now rent!

The weather hasn't been pretty this week. With three thunder storms on sat. Then one or two every day till Tuesday. Still getting scattered showers. Not great fishing but still nice being here. Always next time guys. Nancy and John stopped by on Saturday morning.  Was a great visit.

I've been up since Monday as well on the south end of the lake. You're right, weathers been the poops, scattered showers all day every day. Kind of neat though sitting out on the lake and you can see all the different pockets of rain/sun. Fishing has been decent for me this far, the Lake Trout have been really good. The Walleye I've found are not onto the jig, but I've been getting them trolling a worm harness.

A week later I finally get around to writing something down...Ya gotta love it!! 2 weeks at camp is an awesome way to recharge my batteries can't wait to go back. I had a few visitors show up to keep me company over the time I was there. a couple of guys showed up from work for 2 nights the first week. Then my son and daughter with their beaus came by for the weekend. That Saturday Nancy and John stopped by for an hour or so and we had a boat ride. We got four walleye in an hour at my "secret" spot. The next week another buddy dropped by for an overnighter In between in no particular order I got about a hundred Walleye, several Pike and a few small Catfish. I had a monster Pike attack a large shad I got jigging. I got it to the boat twice but couldn't land it. The weather ran the gamut from extreme heat and humidity  to heavy t-storms to cool days and nights. An awesome time was had by all. TYVM
