This week-end is a civic holiday in Ontario so we will be heading up for the long week-end. We found a nice place on Baie Dorval that we rented through Airbnb. We will be in the Sandy Portage area and we will likely head up the lake to Sunnyside for a change of scenery on on of the day.

Is anybody else going to be on the lake in those areas??

Cheers!

We will be at Ogascanan all next week.  Does that count?

Smile, every one will wonder what you have been up to.

As far as I'm concerned I don't care if I catch any fish or not, I just am happy as a lark to be there.  That being said Nancy is different, she wants to catch lots of fish, all day every day.  Most days she out fishes me about 5 or 6 to 1.  But I love her anyway.

John

Sides that she cooks much better than me.

I agree with you. The main things that I look forward to about fishing are not necessarily all about catching fish. There is nothing better than heading out on the lake in the morning with a hot mug of coffee or sitting on the dock just absorbing the peace and quiet. Life is busy and its nice to get away. If I never caught any fish my wife would get suspicious though so I try to bring a couple home to avoid any trouble. One day, hopefully, she becomes a regular companion on these trips. Right now, its not really her thing.

Heading up Saturday morning to miss the traffic.  Expect to be in Laniel by 9am.  There for 4 days fishing with my brother.  Its his first time up this year so we should be able to get his license just as the store opens.

Wife and I will be at 3 Seasons Camp starting Saturday August 1 for two weeks ,stop by and look us up !
Sure everybody wants to catch lots of fish, and large ones at that, but if thats the only reason you go to the Kip area, your missing out on so much more !

"getthenet" you are a lucky man!

Riverrat: do you normally stick around the sandy portage area? We have lots of success for lakers in that area. We haven't had a lot of luck with walleyes around that area. We catch fair number but they are usually on the smaller side. Also enjoy your trip. Hope to see you on the lake. Look for 3 handsome guys in a green legend boat.

Riverrat

The weather is really hot up there right now.  The walleye fishing was terrible last night.  You can catch quite a few walleye on Sandy Portage but unfortunately there are a lot of boats there so I avoid it.  The hit is generally on late this time of year.  I am usually the last boat to return to Laniel.  If u want more info send me a message and I can tell u a couple of areas to try.  My big boat hasn't made it up so I will be driving a blue boat with a 20hp merc.

Hi Riverrat,

I sent you a PM. We will be heading up to the lake on Friday morning.

Cheers!

Headed up Monday-Friday... rain in the forecast everyday right now...hope that changes! haha

Legend

That certainly is a change in weather. Only yesterday we were planning on ways to deal with the sun, in case it got too hot on the water. Guess we'll pack the rain gear as well. I wonder if we should pack winter coats as well. LOL!

Just got back from three days of hot hot days!! So happy we have great swimming areas to jump in and cool off while working. Tough bite in heavy winds but they were going if you stumbled onto them
