Hi all...seems like forever since I've been out here. Super busy with work acquiring our largest competitor and there's no shortage of things to keep one busy in the summer.

Anyway...we just booked our trip for next year. After an exhaustive search of many lakes, locations, fly-ins, outposts, and lodge venues we've decided to return BACK to Alwaki Lodge main camp and Lake Kipawa for 2016. Our group of nine guys (all Alwaki and Kipawa veterans) will be on the lake July 30 - August 6, 2016. We all can't wait, even though we have been spoiled these last several years with wonderful outpost camp experiences on Lake Kipawa. That's boomerang number one.

Boomerang number two is a mere month from today when me and a few of the guys head-up to Pigeon Lake in the Kawarthas area of Ontario. This is a nostalgic trip more than anything as this is where it all started for me in the mid-1970s with my dad and grandpa. My nephew Mattie and son Brady will be going, as well as two of my best friends that spent many trips with us both on Pigeon Lake and up on Kipawa. It's a quick 3-dayer, but still worth it in spades. Make no mistake...we'll be fishing and trying our best, but we know Pigeon Lake can be a fickle girl and we're managing our expectations accordingly.

So there you have it...The Boomerang Effect...fishing Canada style...

Be well all...I'll post a quickie Pigeon Lake report upon our return. And yes...I know I still owe our early-June report from the outpost on Lac Grindstone...I'll get that together when I can find two minutes to rub together.

 Welcome back to Kipawa T-Bone. I've fished all over southern Ontario including Temagami.....Nothing beats Kipawa. Tho Lady Evelyn Lake is absolutely stunning. I'll still take Kipawa.

Hey Canuck...if you're up there that week next year we'll definitely stop by; spent many good years at that camp at it's great to see you guys putting a lot of good work and investment into that spot. It's a treasure unmatched in that area of the lake. You're very fortunate.

Fort/Greg/Puck et al...if I'm there and you're there we'll all be there and we should at minimum tip a cold Bleue (or 3) together.

But, I will be there my regular week mid June and a little birdie tells me I might be going back the first week of July for an extended weekend.

You won't recognize the interior of the main lodge now, all opened up with lots of new windows and back deck. Fireplaces all refaced and looking great. Big comfy couches etc. Fish cleaning shack is all new and should be plumbed in soon, beaver chewed hose! I may be there for long weekend, haven't decided yet.
Owner is expecting twins in two weeks so his time will be limited for a few years, but he can't wait to have his kids there.
We did have a break in two winters ago, if you're ever cruising by and notice anything out of place let me know. James checks in often too.

It really looks great....
Break-ins suck! A hidden game camera can make for a great "watchdog" while you're not there.
Plus it gives the added bonus of snapping some actual game pictures!
I always thought it was cool to see what creatures are lurking when you're not there.
Be it, fox, bear or trouble making thieves!

Your Pigeon lake trip really strikes home. Spent many summer family vacations fishing Pigeon, staying most times  at Camp Cleveland which I dont think is in business anymore. It was near the entrance to Buckhorn. Also , stayed near Bobcaygeon once and all the way at southern end at Sportsmans lodge . I can remember casting endlessly for Muskies to the floating bogs as well as the rice beds. Where are you staying ? Will be really interested in how the fishing goes. Best of luck. Sam
