Alwaki Opening Weekend

Heading to Alwaki for walleye opening weekend. Have been to Alwaki before but in mid summer and have done really well. Any information on early season locations ? Thanks

Last year current was key and a good average size.

Never been up for opener, but have fished that whole area many times. I agree...running (or at least moving) water should be the target. Try area between Lac Audoin and Lac Sunnyside, narrows into Hunters, narrows into Grindstone (for sure!), and if you have the time make the run up to Red Pine Chute...

Nearer Alwaki, I'd get up along MacKenzie Island area north of Corbeau Island...especially Denis Narrows and the area between MacKenzie and Corbeau islands....

Thanks for the input guys....will try those...  except for Red Pine Chute...thats a hike...your advice in the past has been solid T Bone !! ...was thinking that Turtle Bay between Audoin and Sunnyside was an early season sanctuary..will check that with Brian at Alwaki...Narrows into Hunters should have a good current ..also thinking Baie Diot and Dead Bear inlet as they have feeder creeks....will give a post trip update....

  Yes the area near Turtle chutes  and the narrows above it is a sanctuary that time of year.  There use to be small signs there marking the borders for it. They were still there in August I believe. The Quebec regulations should have that listed some where on their site. Under 13 west for Kipawa Lac. I think June 15th or around there you can start fishing that area. But look at regulations first.

lac Kipawa  - 300 m upstream and 300 m downstream of Turtle falls.

lac Audouin  - its outlet stream, between a point located 300 metres downstream of the former North River dam and the first narrowing upstream of the dam (46°51' N., 78°47' W.).

lac Bélisle  - its outlet, between lac Kipawa and its first widening (47°03'53" N., 78°56'05" W.), as well as the lac Kipawa (47°08'00" N., 79°00'01" W.) bay downstream of this outlet.

lac Moran  - its outlet, between a point situated 1 km downstream of the old dam (47°09'58" N., 78°04'21" W.) and a point 60 m upstream (47°10'32" N., 79°04'42" W.).

lac aux Sables  - The north-east tributary of lac, between a point 100 m downstream of its mouth and the Belleterre pumping station.

rivière Barrière  - between 300 m downstream and 150 m upstream of the Rémigny bridge.

rivière Kipawa  - between the first island upstream of the mouth of the river and a point 300 m in lac McLachlin.

rivière Kipawa  - between a point 100 m upstream of Turner rapids and lac Sairs.

I'm fortunate to have moving water year round....in front of my dock. Opening season i cast left for pike, cast straight ahead for walleye and to the right for Lakers.
