Well...the countdown app on my phone indicates 31.76 days until departure. Lot's to do, in general, between now and then...some of which is prepare for the trip. Speaking of that...

We have a group of (11) guys going up this year spread over three cabins at Alwaki Lodge. Most of us are coming from the Columbus, Ohio area, but it's a mix of people that will be arriving from a few different places. Two of the guys will be coming to Kipawa from the Kawarthas region of Ontario where they'll be the week before.

Typically, with a smaller group of 5-6 guys, we plan for coordinated meals that are prepared as one and we eat together. This year with all the guys spread over three cabins, we're not sure we have the wherewithal to try and coordinate this...so I'm looking for "we do it this way and it works"...or..."for larger groups we pretty-much plan meals cabin to cabin".....

Any insights for planning and prepping the meal plan for a larger group is appreciated...

Thanks.

Hi Todd,

I've been lucky enough to have be going on fishing trips for over 50 years. Our group size has varied anywhere from 4 to 14 guys. Regardless the group size, the cook(s), in consultation with all the group members, decided the times and location for breakfasts and dinners. Lunch was always an individual choice. Still works for us these days.

With groups of 20+, we always let the shopping be per cabin as well as prep and times you eat. Assign a cabin leader who will look after his own group. We usually let one breakfast (shore lunch) or lunch be with the whole group as a social...draw straws to see which cabin hosts, and alternate next year. Lunch is easy with sausages and burgers or something like that...but make it epic by going with homemade sausages from "that place you found" and it's gotta be home made burgers...bagged salad, chips, pre made potato salad or cole slaw. Paper plates!!!!

We have a good planner in our group and sends out a list a week or two earlier. Put a couple guys on lunches, couple on breakfasts, one on salads, snacks etc. Split up dinners as they are usually more costly.
Beer can chickens in the smoker is a great meal for a big group.
I've been told we're heading up soon with a small group just to fish.
