Greg

I visited the church near Hunters Point on the weekend for the first time - I was curious if anyone had any information on the church... I thought I remember seeing a thread on here before with information.

What year was it built? etc...

We took some pictures but it definitely has seen better days... and last weekend somebody was actually camping inside the church in the upper loft (tent, air mattress, supplies, etc.).  They were not there when we visited but it was kind of strange to see.

Thx... Greg

hey Greg!
Glad you got a chance to make that trip, did you go up by boat or truck?
Here are the best sources of information we could find on it when we went last year:

(click on the "Show More" link in the main header to open the text history on the area)

Here's another link as well, which I believe is the original source of the information used in the flickr post above:

Amazing spot isn't it?

That is very odd about people camping in the loft, we were leary to go up there even just for a few minutes let alone camp up there!
To each their own....

Thanks Brent... we went by boat, from Alwaki - it was a fun trip, fished a few places on the way back, etc.  Always good to see another area of the lake - and also to go under the bridge I heard so much about... we stopped on a nice beach and swam a while on the way back... we got lots of pictures of the church from far away and from inside (including a picture of the tent from down below...

Definitely agree with your "leary" description... and amazing...

Cheers,  Greg
