Good news on the bug front, just returned from a three day trip to the Kipawa area and I am pleased to report to anyone suffering from  insectophobia the bug levels at our camp are the lowest I have experienced in years........... Black flies gone, Mosquitoes negligible and Deer flies are not yet an issue.

The normal bugs in the evening, but other than that, it was nice.

Time for me to start politicing with our crew about going later in the season

Never is a long time, but I'm fairly certain of one thing; I'll never go back in prime bug season again (late-May - early-July). It really puts a damper on being able to enjoy the environment WITHIN the environment. Bug suits and sprays, hiding inside the cabin, sleeping under the covers, taping pants and sleeves, etc. I've seen guys act as if nothing was bothering them even though they had 8-10 skeeters biting them on their face at the moment, but how couldn't it bother you? This year in late-July...almost no bugs to speak of and fishing was never better.

Other than to scratch an itch, why would anyone go up there voluntarily when the skeeters and black flies are as thick as thieves? We did it in 2015...likely never again.
