Hi Gang!. First post.
Heading up to Cedar Valley on Aug. 15. Been there before but thought I would ask where you might suggest trying for walleye. I am familiar with Smith Bay and Blue Barrel, but where else should I be looking?
Is it worth shooting down to Two Moons area?
Also, would September (the 8th) be similar fishing as next week?
Thanks for the info and thanks for all the great threads.

Hi 289walleye,

Welcome to the board. As to where to fish the north east end of Lake Kipawa, I only have opinions. While I haven't fished Kipawa since 2013, I spent 17 weeks fishing out of 3 Seasons Camp over 14 years. There is a plethora of locations to fish in that area - too many to mention individually. Every time I went, I used my electronics to find walleye. For mid Aug, I'd recommend looking at the under water humps out in Hay Bay. Put your stern on the #3 sign and drive at the little island out in front of the first island you would come to going to Chemagan Bay. You will cross over 4 under water humps.  Check out points off any of the islands north east of Cedar Valley Lodge. Always fish wind blown shorelines. There's walleye in Loon Bay too. I'd recommend staying out of Smith Bay this late in the season. Our group of 4 guys departs 12 Aug for a week of walleye fishing about 50 miles north east of Lake Kipawa. I like Sep fishing as well. Our group will depart 6 Sep for a second week of fishing.

Have a great trip. Lake Kipawa is a beautiful spot.

Thanks Jay, appreciate the info.
Trying to find Chemagan Bay. Do you have coordinates or a reference on a map.
Have a great trip as well.

Found Chemagan...otherwise known as Blue Barrel.
Thanks again!

@289walleye welcome to the board, enjoy your trips.

When I hear people talking about this end of the lake I quickly realize just how much of the lake I've never seen for all the years being on it.
Might have to make some time and do a family trip into the northern end of the lake....
Cheers!

I believe Jay is talking about the area coloured in blue just as you leave the bay that Cedar Valley is in

Thanks for the addition of the map John. The map makes it very easy to locate the spot I was talking about. On the map, look across Hay Bay from the mouth of the bay where Cedar Valley Lodge is and you'll see a small island. A rock outcropping marked with a red X is located to the north east of the island. Captain Crappie named this rock outcropping Seagull Island because there were always lots of seagulls there. Put your stern at the #3 sign and drive towards Seagull Island to cross over the underwater humps.

Jay

Sorry to correct you but Captain Crappie called those Island Snoopy because from the right angle, they look like Snoppy laying dowm.

Thanks John for the correction. My memory isn't so good anymore. I last shared a cabin with Captain Crappie and Cmdr Bluegill in 2010. You and your gang were there too. Remember our blue shirt picture - see http://www.kipawa.net/viewtopic.php?t=1848
