So, is CDN Thanksgiving much like our American version? Family visits, lots of food...turkey, stuffing, ham, "all the trimmings", beer, wine, afternoon nap...etc.? I believe it is...thought of it is making my mouth water...

Thx Nancy!    Yes T-bone - exact same.  I'm in a turkey coma right now.

Usually I'm the cook but my 18 year old daughter did everything this year - awesome meal.

It allowed me to go on the river fishing this morning - got 6 pike today.

Definitely a great day!

Maybe in some parts. In our rural areas there is a lot of standing around the yard drinking beer, when it's cold, we prefer the garage.
What a great time of year. Woke up in Seguin ON to frost, followed by a spectacular sunny day. Colors of the fall leaves were vibrant against the blue sky back drop. In our inland lake big smallmouth were taking 3" pumpkinseed salt grub on 1/8oz fireball jig. 2 nice 15lb+ pike taken on perch pattern X rap. Fishing was Sat am ahead of some nasty cold and windy weather right into Sunday. Sunday afternoon was spent inside. Portly, semi-drunk men were taking bacon wrapped scallops and homemade cured salami, followed by turkey, Brussels sprouts, mashed potatoes, gravey, turnip&carrot...and pecan & pumpkin pie a la mode. Shared with healthy friends and family.

Sounds like you had a fantastic weekend.  The theme is definitely food, fishing, family and a few drinks.

I rarely stop fishing to take in the scenery but today - the colours on the river were awesome!

You know I have to add my two cents.

Yes , we do enjoy all the same traditional thanksgiving fare as everybody else but this year it 32% less.

Yeah...but that coin has two sides to it; our products took a 32% price increase in Canada also....and guess how much sales have declined up there since that monetary shift? Suffice it to say, lots.

I always have to scratch my head a little about prices up there though. Even when normalized, stuff is still expensive. $36 for a case of beer? I'd have to stop drinking beer if it were that expensive...or at least get a 2nd job.

Ya, but up here , you're actually getting beer for 36 dollars.
That stuff you buy back home is just flavored water for 15 dollars a case

Touche. But the problem is that CDN beer goes down faster...which causes higher rate of consumption...which causes a big problem at double the price. I'd go broke.

I remember pounding some Molson Brador up on Pigeon Lake when I was young and foolish. Could barely walk from the cabin to the dock after about 3 of them. Funny, old memory.
