Wow, been quiet on the forum these days! So in an attempt to liven things up, I pose the question;
What does everyone have planned for this Winter?

Greg

1) A buddy and I are planning a day trip to Toronto to look around the Bass Pro shop for absolutely no particular reason - probably in mid-December or January

2) Going south for a week or two in February - might try to go fishing when I am there... but I haven't had much luck with deep sea fishing and the horrible marine grade diesel fumes make me SICK!!!  So I am unsure if this will happen...

3) Dream of going fishing in my new boat next spring - I said good bye to my old friend (my old boat) about 30 minutes ago when I dropped it off at the dealer as my trade in - 11 years with it and I caught a lot of fish and had a lot of great times with many friends and family - it was good to me... feeling a little nostalgic this morning.

4) I will bring in all my gear and rods into the house and go through the tackle boxes and sharpen hooks or replace any bent/rusty hooks as I watch hockey on cold -40 nights!

Hey Greg,

No need to go deep sea fishing when you go south if the diesel fumes make you sick. My wife and I travel quite a bit to the Carribean and on 2 occasions I brought a spinning rod and a few select crankbaits. I saunter off the property along the beach to where its deserted and start casting. There's always fish of some kind swimming along the shore. Bring forceps and leaders as some of them have nasty teeth. I don't keep any but the locals will always want the good fish.

Cuba fishing is very good...especially in the Cayo Santa Maria area. We stayed at the Royalton. The causeway has ..I think 47 bridges that you can fish under. Its a cheap cab ride and you can walk from bridge to bridge or fish in the mangroves. Very similar to bass fishing...
Everybody is a genius.
But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree,
it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.

Sounds a totally awesome retirement. Summers on Kipawa and winters in the Caribbean...Well I know I can do at least one of those things. LOL Gotta keep buying Lottery tickets.
All i really have planned is a trip or two ice fishing. Likely Lake Temagami. I'll often soak up the O/T in the winter and spend it in the summer. So not much happening here.....
Days spent fishing don't count against life :)

Both Carribean and Kipawa in a year?  Sounds like you have a good plan working for you.

Me;  I'll get my boat out as often as I can during the winter, unless the weather is bad ( high wind, I can deal with the chilly).
When not afloat, I'll be watching grandkids.

Hunting and icefishing is my plan for winter. Hopefully it will work out. So many things this year have tied me up, especially this fall. My free time has been woefully taken up this fall (last 3 months). I am really ready for some. I have always made time for it. But was just not able to do it this fall. One thing after another. Oh well count my blessings! Kipawa next year again!

Hmmmm
Winter plans :o

River fishing and Bow Hunting until December 31,2016

Ice fishing the rest of the winter for Speckled Trout, Rainbow Trout, Lake Trout, Whitefish and Perch.
Every weekend hopefully from January 13 and until ice out.
There have been years where Ice Fishing started beginning of December but only time will tell.
Not anywhere cold enough yet.

January 13 will be fine with me.

213 days for trip #1
