Discovered a great show (out of Canada) that's on our local PBS here in central Ohio; the New Fly Fisher....I recommend you give it a look. Pretty exotic locations north of the border (usually). Other than that, The Next Bite, anything from the Lindner's, and maybe Larry Dahlberg's The Hunt for Big Fish are the only watchable shows on TV down here. I see some of the other faves from north of the border are available via web sites/video libraries including Bob Izumi Real Fishing, Canadian Sportfishing (Italo's a turd though), and others like The Dimestore Fisherman are out there for us south of the border to watch. Those are mediocre shows, at best. DSF is downright awful, almost funny how bad it is.

Any other 'north of the border' TV fishing shows that our Canadian friends may recommend that are available to view online? February isn't even over...long time before I'm wetting a line in the north...like 150 days...  :(

DSF has always been a joke.
I stopped watching it 10 years ago when they had a real idiot on the show.

Fishing with Gussy, he does lots of walleye stuff that can be used on Kipawa.
Gussy is also on the big FLW Tour a true angler, not a sales guy with a rod and camera.
WFN - I only watch that when it's free and I still want my money back.

Dave Mercer - Facts of Fishing - usually very informative and pretty funny - you defiantly have to get use to Dave's character and sense of humor, but it really is the only show I have recorded on the PVR.  I have also seen him do talks and fishing/boat shows and at BassPro in Toronto and he is very good.

Just back from Mexico... almost March, half our snow is gone since I left, spring is right around the corner!!

I'm friends with most of the show hosts, Mercer is an amazing guy, businessman and emcee/ host of Bassmaster Elite Tour. Dave is a beauty and after one trade show treated me to a birthday dinner. I truly appreciated it.
Dave also just won the prestigious award for filmography for the Outdoor Chanel. Luckily, Nick Pujic is the best in the business for film and it paid off with the award.

I like Charlie Wray 'Fishful Thinking'...he covers it all. There is also one called Monster Fish I think (some guy Ceril is host) and River Monsters...these are on Discovery and Cottage Life channels. I like to watch Wicked Tuna and Coldwater Cowboys...the fellas from Cow Head who work the Sea Doo are beauties.

Canuckbass

Unfortunately most shows are product salesmen, but that's how they pay the bills.

I agree with watching Ceril from Monster Fish.

He's a bit dramatic sometimes but not as Dramatic as River Monsters.
That guy can make a Carp sound like a man killer.

when my life has sunk to the point that i choose to watch a fishing show, its time to put a bullet into my head.
How can you watch that stuff ?......................

I just can't !

it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.

personal preference.

Gotta fill the void with something plus I have to make sure they are sticking to script that I wrote for them.

My favorite show has got to be "Going Fishing" with Darryl Chronzy.  Hey was never what ou would call politically correct and told it like it is when he spoke about government policy for the industry.  It was that non PC attitude that eventually sunk the show.  He still is active in the ONTARIO fishing scene and hangs out on another board regularly when he's not fishing the tourney scene in Costa Rica.

For me, my favorite show and host...  Bill Dance.  I wrote to him years ago and got a very nice hand written response. Very genuine. I also wrote to Al Linder too.  No response.  Maybe that was before his Christian ideals came to the forefront. (mid 70's).  Tried to talk to Babe Winkleman at a show once.  It wasn't busy at the time so I approached him at his booth.  Let's just say he must have had some irritating bug trying to crawl up somewhere private or a herd of bugs already had taken residence there!  Love Mercer and Zona's show, usually some funny stuff happens. Also, In-Fisherman gets a vote, but I watch em all. Better that than anything to do with golf!

You don't get these days back.  Live each day as if it were your last and one day you will be right.

McSteve.... I loved watching Cronzy years ago also... and I agree with your assessment - he would always end his show with a little fire side chat and bit of preaching (not religious, but at the fishing industry, government, etc.)... not always politically correct and usually, and I am not trying to be offensive here, but it seems on occasion he was slurring and perhaps half-in-the-bag.  Definitely an entertaining part of the show.

Wouldn't it be great if somebody grabbed all the "end of show rants" and put them in one video and put it on YouTube???? Man, that would be epic.  I just searched YouTube and there are about a dozen videos, I am going to watch them this weekend just because this thread reminded me of his rants.

T-Bone, give "Uncut Angling" a try. Its a Youtube based channel, young Manitoba guy named Aaron Wiebe. His shows are very informative as he gives out tons of information regarding his lures, set up, fish behaviour, lake structure and electronics info... He is also a very entertaining and funny guy, his channel is pleasure to watch. They also produced a series entitled "39 Hours", it was a great concept. 3 teams of 2 anglers each based out of a different region of Canada have 39 consecutive hours to catch as many different species of fish as possible. For each species you catch the largest of your team is awarded a point... I think that series is 7 or 8 episodes long...probably the most entertaining fishing program i've ever watched!

Canuckbass

Uncut Angling is awesome, Aaron is an awesome angler with a Pretigious KBI win under his belt. He's a good guy too, figured a way to make a living fishing and filming.
