Anyone have an ice report:
Thickness?
Much slush?

wayne

I heard yesterday that the ice is about 12 inches at best. It should be 24 inches this time of year. I was planning a trip to camp, but going to wait. If it gets really mild could be an early break up.

Thanks Wayne, yeah it's been an odd winter....and now this weekend, we're looking at back into the -20 to -30 range!

600 miles north

I just heard from a friend who is on the lake that there was 2 1/2 feet of ice in a water hole they drilled, 3 feet of snow in the bush...
600 miles north is where I'd rather be!

Was talking with a friend yesterday, he told me someone sunk their sled around Bronson Island area yesterday, there's a few pressure cracks around the Island, be careful out there.
Two people ended up on each side of the pressure crack and were able to walk to shore.
Keep your stick on the ice and your rod in the water

The "s bend" through Bronson has always been a strange spot, same with the back side when it narrows again.
In some years past the ice formed a large, long pressure crack off the north point of the island between Bronson and Kipawa.
Glad the people made it back to shore......

Thanks for all the updates

600 miles north

We left Tuesday and there was still I've along the shoreline and most everywhere else. Temps were beginning to rise and I wouldn't be surprised if in the next couple weeks the ice starts breaking up and opens. We got iced in on Monday because of an ice storm that left at least a quarter inch on everything and we had no chance of leaving on the road out of the bush, so we had to wait it out for a day. Winter is ending up there now though and won't be long now
