I finally got the boat back last weekend after having Bay City Marine in Hamilton put a new Yamaha F150 on the back.  This replaces the Merc 115 which, while a decent motor, was not enough motor for my Legend 20' Excaliber.  The hardest part of getting it back has been the 3 hours I spent Saturday running it through various RPM ranges, none of which exceeded 3,000, to perform the break in according to the manual.  Now that that has been done I'll be looking to get out again this week to run it through the top end to see what she can really do now.

NICE! looks great, that will pop it out of the hole in a real hurry!

I hope you have a lot better luck with this motor.

I picked up my boat bit still can't find the time to break it in.

Nice looking water ride.

RHYBAK : that's just wrong not being able to get the time to get it out. Hopefully that will change for the better soon.

My own fault.

My priority is river fishing for Rainbow Trout before playing with the boat.
That will change in a week or so.

The 150 should do a good job on that boat,  A 115 would be a little light for sure.

I have heard nothing but good things about the Yammi 150.

Enjoy

Oh; river fishing for trout.  Why didn't you say so.
That is a very acceptable priority! 😊

Thanks Rhybak.  I don't think I'll be taking too many chances with this one for a while.  I'm already really pleased with the hole shot and everyone I have spoken with regarding Yamaha have convinced me they are a good company to be dealing with.

If it wasn't for the new motor install I'd probably be out in the rivers as well searching for steel.

So I was able to take the boat out Sunday for a tour around Lake Ontario.  The weather was perfect for cruising and I put a total of 80 miles (by the GPS) on, moving through the various RPM ranges.  Let me say that Yamaha makes one fine motor.  The power this new engine delivered was leaps and bounds better than the old Merc.  Cruising at 5,000 RPM gave me a very comfortable 40-45 MPH depending on the wave action.  I really like the "Troll Master" function on the motor that allows you to digitally control the RPM in increments of 50.  I was able to get it to troll at 1.5 MPH which was very nice.  I didn't get to wet a line though as I wanted to make sure I worked out all of the kinks long before the trip North (only 94 more days).

They are calling for a few days of wet weather around here through the weekend so I think I go try my luck on some jumbo perch.
