Good evening all,
Down to 31days til we make our way to Bush country camp. Hate to think about how many years it has been vs. how many we may look forward to. We always have purchased our Beer and liquor in the duty free or in Ontario somewhere along the way. There was usually not the option of a store like the new one in Temiscaming . after reading comments here and a little on line research , seems we are wasting money I could be using towards retirement or my next trip. couple of questions for those of you that "shop local" ... is there plenty of supply in the grocery store , mainly Canadian bottles, or cans (boat beer).. and , second , is the sales tax in Quebec similar to Ontario? if it is, no reason to buy in Ontario from what I see on the prices. Have always been leary of waiting and then finding supplies are low.. face it , june is a busy time full of people like us. any advice would be appreciated.. we don't buy as much as we used to but still prefer a Molson Canadian over pepsi. Geez, I think its been about 30 years I have been coming to Quebec and still get excited like a kid at Christmas.  I have lures in my tackle box that made the first trip and the cabelas Canadian series rod still comes along as a backup. thanks to all for sharing their knowledge. Sam
So many lures and so little time.

We always buy our beer in Temiscaming. The new IGA has a good selection and the prices are ok. I think there's a web site for the store that will give you the info you want. They have weekly sales on various brands. 66 more days!!

RHYBAK

Buy your liquor at duty free or from home and buy your beer at the IGA.
I live in Ontario and buy my beer in Quebec.
About seven dollars a case cheaper.
Bring your wine from home also.
Lousy selection in Quebec

There is also a gas station across from the Auberge in Temiscaming that sells beer. Not sure how the prices compare to the grocery store but they usually have a sufficient stock on hand, especially Molson products.

My buddies went to the Beer Store one year in Ontario on the way up and let's just say they never did that again. Way over priced.

Good advice from those before me.
Check this site out for the IGA:

For food and beer the IGA is one stop to get both.

The Petro Can gas station across from the Auberge is closed down The tanks have been removed. Not sure if they will reopen.  For gas there is an ESSO at the bypass before you get into town that also has beer.

Wow...one less beer store then. Stop 102 usually has a good supply. IGA has a lot of different brands and types, but not much of any single brand or type.
Embrace every moment...you only get it once

RHYBAK

There IS one more beer store.
I believe it's across the street from the primrose.
Very good selection.
They also have gas pumps

Yes  RHYBAK has it another spot for gas and beer in town.

I will miss the Petro Can it was always my last stop on the way into camp, Gas, Beer and Bait

It will be the Pronature,   across the road from the old Petro Can, for bait now

RHYBAK

I've ordered my Leeches from Pronature my last three trips.

Leeches are leeches.
I'm sure they all come from the same wholesaler driving down from bait shop to bait shop.
