I'm always surprised how few of those that post with some regularity on this board go up for opener...or at least don't indicate they are going up. I would think most outfitters are fully booked for the week. Maybe not. I've only seen one member (Devio) state they're going up.

Anyone else going up next week? Wonder how the bugs are too. I read somewhere (another board maybe) they're brutal already in Muskokas.

Yup. Gonna be there teusday to friday. I started a new shift at work and Love it. We caqll it the weekend warrior. 12 hours sat and sun and 8 on monday. Free teusday to  friday  It's gonna give me more time to finish the camp and go fishing. Hopefully I can keep it till I retire in 2 years.
Days spent fishing don't count against life :)

Riverrat

I just got back today.  I was there for two nights.  I am going back Friday.  Its too cold for the bugs but that should change soon as the temperatures are expected to rise.  The lake level is a little higher then summer levels because of all the rain.  The dam in Laniel is fully open.

We stopped in Temiscaming for our licenses and beer.  The Petro Canada is closed still.  Gas in town is at $1.09 per litre similar to North Bay.

I will be headed back up on Tuesday with the boat in tow.  the plan is to be launched and ready to go by Friday

As has been said bugs were not out yet BUT if we get some warmth I think they will be thick.

Checked with Pronature on Leeches None in yet but should be in before Friday, Lots of worms in the cooler

Greg Look at the thread titled WHERE TO BUY LEECHES>

Call either Kipawa bait or Pronature and order your leeches.
They will put them aside for you.
That way no worries whether they are in stock or not.

Heading to our camp (no not Kipawa) for the first time this season this weekend coming up.
Work in China got in the way of our usual spring routine. Very, very thankful to be back in North America.

Bugs are just starting here at home (south of Ottawa) but local sources say there are no bugs up there yet.
Take care and safe travels to everyone.

Smitty

Our group is heading into Grassy Thursday afternoon - we will be out on the water first thing Friday morning - its only a weekend trip (back on Monday) - I will post a report when we get back.

Good luck everyone.

Just got back yesterday from our camp on Hunter's Lake.
Rained off and on Fri-Sat-Sun.
Saw a few mosquitoes but they were holding umbrellas. No time to bite.
The water level is a little higher than usual.

The lake was flat on Saturday morning. Absolutely no wind.
You could see the reflection of the shoreline from the other side.

I am hosting 10 guys this coming weekend.
We plan to troll a lot with crankbaits for the post spawn walleye.

All Right.
So hopefully we might start seeing some reports filtering in after next weekend

heading in Sat till Tues   short amount of time to do a lot of fishing

Balsams

Limacharley, this is exactly how I fish at this time of year and catch tones of fish. Have a few shallow "go to" bays where we fish 5 to 12 ft of water. I Really rather this type of fishing as you can see more of the surroundings...and with a big group gives you a chance to see how the other boats are making out and maybe even stop by for a social boat side. Always interested to see what some of the lures of choice are. I like shallow running shad raps in perch patern (small and large size), blue or orange small size shallow rapala, black/silver or orange jointed rapala (J7 I think). Can you share some of your "go to's"?
