How long are you going for?

We normally get a pound of leeches per person for the week.

We would hate to run out of the main bait being in the middle of nowhere.

We really want to focus on plastics, this is an insurance policy in case our confidence weakens LOL!

I've asked this before, but I have to ask again. Why would you want to 'focus on plastics' if you know that using live bait puts the odds of catching more fish heavily in your favor? Is it a cost thing? Challenge thing? Half pound of leeches will last about a day if the bite is on...so you're going to need to focus on plastics at some point.

Being a golfer, I'd like to get a hole in one...but I'm not going to try for one blindfolded.

Always interested to hear alternative perspectives on fishing with (or without) live bait.

Hey Guys,

We used to always use leeches and love to drag bottom bouncers, actually my wife and I are pretty killer with bottom bouncers, our homemade worm harnesses and crawlers.

As far as plastics go, I always felt like if you can trick them into biting an artificial bait you are exhibiting more skill as an angler. It's just more satisfying to
catch a big fish on an artificial, to me anyways. That's not to say I am a proficient walleye angular on plastics HEHE!

We are only there for 1/2 of Saturday (by the time we get to the lodge and get set up) , Sunday and Monday morning.

So do you think  1/2 pound will do it for us or should I call back and up it to a pound? It's just my wife and I.

Should be plenty...along with the 'erms.

More satisfying, eh? So...catching 20 fish in an outing on plastics is more satisfying than catching 40 fish per outing on live bait? Interesting...very interesting. [see image of Arte Johnson from Laugh In]

Sounds like you're going have a great weekend...good luck dodging those buggy bugs!

For two people , for that short of time, you will be fine.

You will know better for next time if you run out.

Good Luck.

Thanks Guys..

40 fish per day MAN!!!! That would be awesome... i'm so distracted right now HAHA!

Really, I'm not set either way. Trust me.. if we start hammering them on leeches.. I guarantee you I won't be able to stop using them LOL!

Brian will likely have some live bait if it comes to that. good luck! Be sure to post a report! Can't wait to read it!

I'll put plastics vs live bait anytime. Would be a good test verses a good live bait angler.
I've been fishing plastics for 30 years and wouldn't change as the results I've seen.
Good fresh soft plastics with a good scent is key. Moving it to mimic bait is key.

I've never caught a thing on Gulp, hate it.

Trying to head up next Thursday, work may get in the way and delay trip a day.
