Ok, who got what for Christmas ?

T-Bone

Big fish baits...the kind I seem to lose by the dozens every year when casting for pike. Other than that...not much for the Kipawa trip...

See the temps up there lately? Sheesh...frozen zone to the max.

Happy holidays to all...

T-Bone.

Not much for Kip.  Just a neoprene fiber jacket.  That's the closest to fishing I got, but I seem to have darn near all I 'need' for fishing.

There's is always 'want',  but that's a different story.

The temps here this week are cold (at least to us).  Cold enough to even have ice form on still waters.

Balsams

Sgt, pls bring your spud if you venture out.

SgtCrabby

Nah, don't need the spud;  it may be cold to us, but it'll get back to warmer before long.  We expect to get above freezing for daytime by end of the week.
There may be ice forming, but a small duck would break through it. Maybe as thick as a few millimeters at most and that's with no current or waves...

I do enjoy the humorous banter!   Thanks @Balsams

@Balsams , I went out fishing yesterday.  We found some ice still on the stream, my boat broke through a couple hundred feet of ice (60 m), turned around back to open water.  Ice was about a quarter of an inch (~0.63 cm) About an hour later we decided to move, my partner wanted to see the ice again; it was mostly gone.
I like living this far south;  no cutting holes in our lakes.

Nice fish pliers!

Ya I hear ya Sarge, getting kinda fed up with Canadian winters. But I'll take summers on Kipawa just to be close.  ;) :) ;D ;D 8)
Days spent fishing don't count against life :)

Yes 1/4" is about 4 3/4" too thin for me. Actually it's been years since I went ice fishing...not really my thing, I would rather be belly up to the bar when I drink. So what are you chasing down there...are there any fish biting under those cold conditions? Would imagine they shut down......

SgtCrabby

Agreed, ice should be in a glass with other 'beverages'.

Around here, I target primarily crappie.  They do still bite, just soft strikes. Saturday all we caught was one largemouth bass, about 17 inches with a big bloated belly, looked like it was ready to spawn ( already? Way to early for that).
@puckster_guy ;  I don't know how y'all make it through your winters.

It seems that we've hijacked this thread, so to get back on track:

What all did y'all get for Christmas?

puckster_guy

@puckster_guy ;  I don't know how y'all make it through your winters.... Ya get used to it. I doubt I can handle your summer heat. Been to South Padre in April some time ago. It was just starting to get hot. That was enough for me. It's what your used to. I wonder how Dog copes with the climate change lol.

@puckster_guy; Dog seems be have flipped to the hot side.  With one of our recent "cold snaps", we heard him not liking the chill.
