Hey all, looks like the 2018-2019 regulations have come out. No new changes that I can see.

Cheers

Days spent fishing don't count against life :)

Last I was at 3 Seasons , 2 years ago , the new filleting rules had just come into affect .As the fish cleaning guy for our group and one who prided himself on my life long cleaning success I struggled with the new "4 fin ,1 tail" requirement .I found it very time consuming and annoying  .This year upon my return , sorry Coke Group but all our Canadian pickerel/American walleye  will simply be gutted ,heads on for further cleaning back at home . Cant see taking the time to cut through the gill plate and spine above the tail .No thanks

Pike Mike, I got this tip from someone on the forum here. Take with you a pair of hand garden pruner/snip/sheers. Use those to cut gill plate and spine, works great!
Walleye Rock!

I’m the same @pike mike, I haven’t even looked at how to filet their new way. I just gut and transport home, actually don’t bring many home.
My freezer has my limit of walleye right now as I’ve had a great ice fishing season a few mins from home. Big walleye, not the small Kipawa ones.. lol

For those wishing to see a walleye filleting method check the 3 Seasonscamp Facebook site for a unique video about the portfolio way of cleaning walleye and with Reggie doing it

Oarin

Wow! He makes it look so easy!

I live in Muskoka.

Cbass, must be nice to have the choice of lakes in your area. Where I live, near Lake Saint Francis, eyes are hard to come by through the ice. We're limited as to where it's safe to fish as the St.Lawrence Authorities raise and lower the water levels almost weekly. I put my Jeep through the ice last year, got out through the window seconds before it disappeared. Now the wife wont let me take the new Jeep on the ice, can't understand why.lol.

RHYBAK

I'm with Mike and CBass 100%

Since the new regulation, I just gut the fish we are taking home and vacuum seal them individually.

Deal with the rest when I'm ready to eat the fish.

Reggie makes it look very easy.

Either way , you have to deal with the finished filet at home, so you may as well deal with the carcass.

Ya I'm spoiled over here, dozens of Great Lakes to fish. I stuck to Lake Muskoka this season, my hut is all side streets from my house and leave my skidoo lakeside at friends cottage. When I leave my house I'm in my hut with heat going in 15 mins...
Had a good season, lots of big walleye. Trick to them up here, fish alone, as soon as guys are to close or chatting those big walleye are to smart and skittish. Get out early and set up, any noise (machine or augers) after 3:30pm you may as well pack up and leave as they put lockjaw on.
All video sonar fishing, see big one drop down and get them chasing and they'll bite.
None on jigging or set lines.

RHYBAK

I guess I missed my invite?

Maybe next year

I pulled my hut off early but still fishing the final days of the season. Checking this week, may put hut out for lakers on another close lake.

SgtCrabby

I'm in agreement with Rhybak;  gut and ship, then finish as needed at home.

Reggie does make it look easy, must be lots of practice 😁 .
