Nasty weather heading up toward Kipawa...certainly won't speed-up the ice out or "end of winter" process. Maybe this is normal for mid-April up there, but I doubt it. If you total up all the now and ice, it comes out to 9" - 20" of new snow. Yuck...messy. I remember a buddy sent me a picture once of Kipawa Government Docks...date was April 4th...lake was totally free of ice. That must have been an anomaly that year.

North Bay is supposed to get one foot of snow Sunday/Monday. And I'm planning on going up the highway of death (11 North) for sales in Timmins, Rouyn and Val D'Or.

On the bright side-I'll be sledding in some logging roads around Kipawa on Saturday. There's still plenty of snow for that. It's definitely going to be a very late ice out in my opinion. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if the opener is threatened.

Usually still see ice on the sides of the lake and in the bush for opener, this year could be scary.

You are going to see some ice for the opener.

Snow will be gone but there will be some ice for sure on shore maybe more.

less ice required for our coolers, just dip the beer in the lake for a few minutes.
