Just wanted to take a minute and say thanks to everyone out here and all of the advise and material I have been able get and read off of the forum over the past couple of weeks. I'm super lucky and excited to be heading up to Kipawa this Saturday for a quick 3 day adventure in hopes of being more successful then last year.
We will be staying at Alwaki and I'm not all that familiar with the area, but we plan on giving it out best shoot . I've printed off some maps and circled a few areas of interest for some jigging and trolling. Plan is to pick a spot we are interested in to jig at and troll from Alwaki (either shoreline) until we get there. Hopefully timing is right and we can pull a few eye's out for dinner .
I'm loving this because I've finally got the bug in me again . Each day that passes the harder it is to get to sleep just thinking about getting up there . I love being able to take my kids(10yrs & 8yrs) up to a lake that my Dad would take me too and seeing the excitement in their eyes Plus a good friend of mine Tony who absolutely loved it last year(His First time on Kipawa).
We haven't even made it up there yet and I'm excited to Book a week with Brian and Tina at Alwaki for next summer(That will be for a week).
Hope that some day I can meet up with a few of you guys from the forum up there in the future. Perhaps get a few pointers over a few wobbly pops.
Thanks again to everyone with the information that you put out here and wish us the best of luck on our little adventure.
Cheers.
Good luck! From what I hear Alwaki is a awesome camp.
Good luck! Look forward to reading a trip report for those of us that can't get up there.
Good luck on your trip. I'm looking forward to your report. Our crew was supposed to be at Alwaki (our first trip there) this week, but border closure changed all that. We're going to Oneida, here in NY, next week, hoping to latch onto a few walleyes. Looking forward to a new, but different, adventure with the boys, and we'll start talking about our return to Canada in 2021.
@rsobotka good choice with Alwaki. Its a fist rate, very well run camp, by very nice folk. Brian will point out places to jig, make sure you have a map. Enjoy your get away.
Have a great trip and post a trip report when you return! Welcome to the KFForum.
Greg
Hi rsobotka:
I'm leaving tomorrow till Monday to Camp Kipawa with 2 friends (all Leaf Fans :) :(). Planning on Fishing many areas - 1st time for the friends and I want to show them as much of the lake, as possible. My afternoon/evening plans are fishing areas near Dead Bear Bay, Sandbanks and dropping anchor @ Sunnyside in the evening. We'll be in a Black/Grey Stratos with a 200 Evinrude. As per Hodgey, I'm sure Brian will direct you to the right places. If you spot us drop by.
Good Luck!!
Ray.
Hodgey1 We actually stayed at Alwaki last year for a quick 3 days . It was great and a part of the lake I had never fished in, So it was a challenge and only pulled out a few(Enough for one fry) ,but it was so well worth it. Brian was great and looking forward to seeing him again in a couple. I'm like a kid a few days before Christmas ;D
TBIRD The four of us my two little guys and buddy will be floating around in one of Brians Alwaki boats(Hope to have my own boat next year) and we will most definitely keep an eye out for you. Safe travels and good luck as well.
rsobotka have a great trip. Do u have any silver/blue hot n tots or green in your tackle box. This year was completely on fire trolling them. If you want to pm me I can try and send u some specific spots to troll or jig.
@TBIRD "We'll be in a Black/Grey Stratos with a 200 Evinrude."
HA! A fellow stratos owner.... I have a black/gray Stratos 486SF with a 150 evinrude.... would love to try out a 200hp on it!!

...30 days
Hi Greg:
It's not mine - it's my neighbors; he and the other guy, we're going with, have been doing Bass tournaments in the Kawartha Lakes for years. I've fished with them a few times around Bancroft. Bass fishing really isn't my bag - I prefer dropping the anchor, tipping my red/white Nipissing jig with a leech, rest my rod on the seat, open a beer and wait for the action :) ;)

I had never heard of "Tia Maria" I had to look it up. So Canadian whiskey, mixed with a coffee liqueur? Sounds good, do you drink it on ice I'm guessing?
:) Hodgey:
You've given me an interesting recipe! Never tried em that way. Generally the CC is with ginger ale - the Tia Maria is with early & late coffees - but I'll give your recipe a try and let you know when I get back. We're leaving for Kipawa around noon - about a 4 hour drive - I'm feel like a 76 year old kid @ Christmas!! ;D
Tia Maria is also good mixed with Milk on Ice.
Or Tia Maria and Vodka
TBIRD we are heading up Saturday and hope to be at Alwkai around 11:30am . My go to is a Crown Royal and Ginger. Start packing tonight and getting the gear in the van. Man Oh Man just thrilled . I even got Sweaters made up for all the boys. Last year I got them custom Hats . I surprise the boys with this gift at our first stop on the drive. I can't wait to see there faces this year. ;D ;D
Molson X and Wisers lots of ice...

My favorite beer? Free & cold
Second favorite beer? Free
Last evening I had a Crown Royal Limited Edition and ginger ale. The Crown Royal was bought at the duty free store at the Thousand Island crossing on our way home from Ogascannon last August. I even used "Canada Dry" ginger ale.
Crown and ginger ale is my favourite hard drink - beer also - I have been drinking Michelob ultra lately, but really not attached to any one beer - I prefer easy to drink, not a strong after taste, not bitter...
I seriously love how this thread has went from fishing and some great advise to what everyone's preferred drink is .I like your style. LOL I really hope the fishing will be as good as the drinks .
It is bro
Ok my turn..lol
I am kind of a beer snob.
Born in UK so i enjoy many European brews mostly ales as they dont have the high carbonation.
Otherwise its local craft brews all the way.
Wellington Special Pale Ale, Barking Squirrel, and the Polish Tyskie Gronie are my usual choice brews lately.
All this beer talk is making me think we need to have a big forum get together someday. Obviously post covid era.
Enjoy your trip at Alwaki.
Cheers everyone
Eagle Rare Boubon, on the rocks. Guinness Stout.
During 15 years of business travel to Belgium, I developed a preference for Trappist beers. Although I retired in 1998, I can still purchase some of them here in Ottawa.

Jay, Some amazing Belgian style beers are being brewed in Canada. Particularly beers from Unibroue. It is a brewery in Chambly, Quebec . They brew in the Trappist style, I think I read once the brewery was owned by Belgians. My favorite is a blonde called La fin du Monde. I buy it at the IGA in Temiscaming.

Here is an article that you Americans might find interesting when coming to Canada. My favorite sipping whiskey is the Gooderham and Worts. Enjoy. https://www.whiskyadvocate.com/whiskies-when-visting-canada/
Try an Electric Canadian - Crown Royal / Kahlua and a splash of milk - fantastic after a hard day of fishing 8)

Hi Hodgey1,
Thank you for the reference. I had not yet tried that beer. So out to the Beer Store on Monday 24 Aug and picked up a case of 6 bottles. I very much enjoyed my first bottle. One of my favourite Trappist Beers that I can get in Canada is Chimay Blue Cap. Thanks again.

This has been a super frustrating year for those of us south of the border. Our July trip got wiped out, then our August trip, then our September trip. As a poor substitute I set up a Lake Erie walleye charter. Possible thunder storms on our date and it too may be a washout! This year can't end soon enough!. Those of you that can go PLEASE post reports.

I'll be out on Lake Erie tomorrow giving it a try.
On September 4, I head up to Kipawa for a week.
Sorry your not having any luck with your trips this year.
Good luck, RHYBAK, post a report!
