For those going up shortly pack extra mosquito repellent

Very, very, very bad!

Worst in last 10 by far

Jig and drift

We drive north on June 30th.  Had a feeling it would be bad this year.  Bug jacket will get a workout!

Thanks for the update.

How are the black flies ? Just as bad?

crackers42

Jus as bad but mosquitoes will carry you away

Have to agree with all the above, the worst I've seen I think since my heart's been beating.  Probably because of the late spring temps and the continuing cool weather.  On the bright side, I really don't think it could get any worse.

You ain't kiddin' Crunchie. I got to camp yesterday afternoon with a load of pine. Unloading was fun, I got some more to unload, I need a good strong wind... not looking forward to doing the rest.
Days spent fishing don't count against life :)

Gezzz/ugh! I hope it calms down by the end of July  :)

Dang...that's no good. Well...I've rarely seen the bugs be much more than a nightfall nuisance in late-July so I'm expecting all that mess will be cleared out by then. Have I ever mentioned how badly I loathe the bugs?  ;D

Its's been somewhat hot (high 20's) lately so I assume that'll kill off the blackflies.

Last weekend during the day, the mosquitoes were a non factor as I worked outside for a couple of days. There was no wind either.
But morning and evening, the mosquitoes were horrible.

it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.

Next week of weather should clean them up a bit

Just don’t go cut wood in the bush holy @@@!!$&@

Fort Wisers

The recent hot weather has certainly put a dent in the blackflies and mosquitoes.
Still some swarming here and there in the evening and morning but nothing major.

Deer and horse flies are out but no worse than normal years.

Thanks @Fort Wisers , that’s good news!

So we went north last Friday the 30th. Haven't gotten to the trip report yet but bugs were unreal first couple days. Black flies just slammed us when we stopped about 50 miles in on the logging road. They did get better as the week went on, the warm weather helped. Mosquitoes where just plan bad. Overall it was more like when we use to go in June than July fishing.  The bright side is they are getting better but pack the bug juice!

Just returned from camp and they are as bad as ever

Black flies, mosquitoes, horse flies, deer flies

Heat isn’t knocking them down

Kill Switch

Just got back from CVL on Saturday (report to come). Bugs were brutal. Pick a species.
people are right that the heat over 3 days last week did help a bit.
I gather the bug season on the lake is a good three weeks behind schedule.
Need a blood transfusion, or more like a top up.
