O.K. Sorry to start this topic but it is bound to happen.

Here in Toronto, we are leading up to the week of the Sportsman show.
Would you attend this show in light of the virus?

Is this virus going to affect your thoughts of leaving the safety of your home and travelling to Quebec for a week of fishing?

Has this virus already effected any travel plans?

I am still going to Peterborough to the tackle swap/show on Sunday... so if I was living in Toronto and planned to go to the sportsman show before, and was looking forward to it, I would probably still go, but be aware and cautious to minimize touching railings, door handles, etc.  And maybe bring a little pocket size bottle of hand sanitizer.

As for going fishing up north... no second thoughts what-so-ever... part of why I do that is to get away from the crowds that come inherently of living in a big city.

No travel plans impacted, but I just returned from a vacation south 10 days ago.  With Trump's announcement last night of closing down flights between Europe and USA, that will no doubt impact many.  Wonder if some people can just come to Canada and then enter the USA through the border or come to Canada and then fly to Europe.

 I haven't been to the sportsmans show in a few years. I gave up because of expensive parking and admittance. However That overblown bug isn't stopping me from doing anything. It did postpone a trip my wife had plans to see family in Italy. A six week trip in April and May. She isn't worried about getting sick just being caught in a quarantine.  I had planned on using all that time at camp. She's looking at a fall trip now. For me? business as usual.

Meltdown here in Ohio and U.S. in general. I've had 14 trade shows wholly cancel worldwide in the past week. We're implementing a work-from-home mandate for almost all associates that are able to do so...effective tomorrow and running for 3-weeks at least. Most of my markets (all healthcare) are in total prep mode so business activity has come to a halt...with the exception of huge orders for isolation-related equipment. All primary business targets in U.S. and Canada (hospitals, pharmacies, elder care) have closed their doors to outside business visitors and vendors. Interesting times.

As for the Sports show...I'd go, but be diligent about space and hygiene....

And no way...if I'm allowed into Canada I'm going. Safer up on Kipawa than here in Columbus, Ohio.

And yes...I've had all my business travel canceled over the past 3 weeks, and it's indefinitely suspended until further notice. That totals about 6 trips here domestically. That's fine with me...wouldn't be too excited to get on a plane right now.

I was at the PDAC in Toronto recently. There were over 25,000 attendees. A few delegations cancelled-Mongolia, certain Asian countries...etc
One guy from Sudbury was diagnosed on the following Saturday has having contracted Covid-19 and he also attended the very same show.
It's causing a kerfuffle in our industry as there were over 150 companies from Northern Ontario/Quebec at this conference.

I had another conference in Defense contracting cancelled an hour before arriving in the Soo yesterday. I drove 5 hours only to get notified to turn around.
I was notified a day before this conference that Oshkosh Defense had limited their travel so I'm guessing American companies are now being cautious about travel.

Our mayor who was at the PDAC has self quarantined himself. He's an idiot for doing that. He's just causing some panic.

I have another conference in Vancouver in May which I doubt will happen so my travel plans have been impacted somewhat.
No big deal. I'll stay local and make sales calls instead.

As for Kipawa-let the melting begin. I have a big push to finish a few projects-Joe can relate I'm sure.
As for the rest of you folk-I'd keep in contact with your lodges to make sure they can honor your fishing plans.

There are very VERY few things that could possibly keep me from our annual trip to Alwaki every June. The North seems like the safest place right now. I'm only a couple hours from Toronto, and there's little worry of the virus here. Would I visit Toronto (even for something as awesome as the Sportsman show)? Not a chance. Toronto might as well be Chernobyl to the rest of us in Ontario.
I'm sure it's not as bad as the media tells us, and it's all about protecting yourself and taking proper precautions. I would not be surprised if the show is cancelled, with so many other major events being shut down.
Hopefully no ones trip to Kipawa is impacted this year, I know i would devastated if I didn't get my Kipawa walleye fix for the year.
For those that are in major city centers that have confirmed cases of the virus, hopefully the spread is minimal and stay safe.

If it were me, I would probably stay away from a large gathering.  My guess is that the show will be cancelled, however, I don't know the status of the virus in Canada.  I'm hoping it has "run its course" by the time we head north for our fishing trip at the end of July!  Or at least we have a handle on it.

I meet both of the criteria for concern, I'm old and I have pre-existing conditions, so I'm staying put until this thing gets under control. My trip to TBL isn't until mid July, so hopefully things will be fine by then. Stay safe everyone!

I would be dumbfounded if they close the border over this. For what...if it's there, and it's here...what's the objective?
