Yowza...from a recent high of around 4800, we have 1,446 on Sunday and 1,039 on Monday. Tell me again how lockdowns don't work??

Campkipawa

Most of Ontario were in lockdowns since boxing day..........cases never dropped until recently. Just like last year the summer weather plays a huge role.

I'm sure the vaccinations are helping also.
Time will tell especially when things loosen up and the cold weather comes back in the fall.

Two more lockdowns till Christmas

The numbers are going down due to the vaccination rollout, plain and simple.

If you believe the majority of people adhered to a lockdown, you're fooling yourself.
Torontonians have been coming up here to ice fish, snowmobile and now cottage/trailer in parks.

If you're like me and have been staying put, thank you. 52% of Canadians have had their first dose.
Everybody is a genius.

it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.

The numbers are coming down sharply. We could be below a thousand this week. Ford is thinking of going into phase one earlier then planned.

It's all three: vaccines, the stay at home order, and the summer.

Province lifts restrictions on non-urgent surgeries; Ontario reports 1,588 new cases.

Restrictions are slowly being lifted as we consistently hit new lows from our recent peak. Meanwhile probably today the % of Canadians who have had at least one shot will exceed that total for US citizens. Canadians are still clamouring for vaccines as we continue to ramp up daily totals. Perhaps that initial scarcity was a good thing. :)

It's over.
Try telling that to the families of people who died of Covid (especially those in nursing home outbreaks) because Trudeau didn't get contracts to get enough vaccine earlier !! Not to mention closing the borders to incoming flights from China or other outbreak countries ! IMO the man failed miserably on both counts. But that is just my thoughts.

I am finding it very difficult to find information on just when the Ontario/Quebec border will re-open. I know camp owners are allowed currently to enter to "do maintenance" etc. Our group is in limbo as we are due to head to Alwaki from Ontario June 5...which gives us two days to prepare if we are able to go. All of us but one have had their first Covid shot. At this point we just sit and wait it out. One possibility would be that Quebec would open their border allowing us to get there and Ontario would keep our border shut....be a darn shame if we had to spend half the summer up there wouldn't it !!!  ::)
btw..someone made a good point earlier about a certain percentage who will not want to get the vaccine. (we have one of those in our group) I wonder if Trudeau's 75% vaccination rate to open US border takes that into account or not?

We’re scheduled to come up on June 4th to a lodge on the lake, still no confirmation from the provincial government on border closures.

Camps are open but the Quebec border is not as of today.
Check with your outfitter before you go.
According to 3Seasonscamp, outfitters are only allowed to have people from two households per cabin.
I don't know about your group but our group of three have to split into two cabins.
The end on June, I believe it reverts to last years rules which were three households per cabin

Just make sure you're good to go before you go.

Hi Rhybak...thanks for that information. We have talked to Brian at Alwaki and yes he has us set up with no more than 2 guys per cabin as per the rules. One more question. Someone in our group this morning called to say he couldn't go as he believes that once you return to Ontario (if the border does open up come next Wed.) you need to self quarantine for two weeks, which he can't do as he works. Do you know if that is correct or not? I thought that was just if you came from another country?

JohnPK

Forgot to mention in my last post that obviously we will only be going if the Provincal border opens up, and if so, it is very unlikely that Ontario would open the border and still require self quarantine for two weeks upon return.

JohnPK, we are also going to Alwaki next weekend from Ontario. We usually go up for the opening weekend. Have you been up at this time in June before? Do you know what depth of water we should be fishing at with this warm weather?
