Got that bad news text from our cousin in Sarnia this afternoon.  Hopes for a trip before August 1, our groups availability, are now gone.  Now we dream of next year .

Lizard King

I’m sorry to hear that fellas.
I feel bad for all those that had booked in hopes of something happening by now….and the lodge owners who know there’s a slew of us down here chomping at the bit.

Sadly, with this 7/21 date, within a month or so past that many schools and university’s will be back in session.  Affecting late August and beyond options for many….or those in their party.

I wouldn't write off the last week of July yet. Many great signs. Minor outbreak in Waterloo which is near Kitchener. We now lead the world in first jab percentage for actual countries. I think the stat for second jabs is 20% but that is where the action is at now. Mine happens Monday.

Since the vaccine roll out has been so great there is pressure being applied to the federal government from the tourism industry. In particular fishing and hunting lodges from Algoma westwards. I had planned a trip out that way before health issues but a stop to that. In trying to book some spots establishments didn't want anyone who wasn't local!

Finally made it to camp yesterday night.

It’s raining right now, and the bugs are real bad.

Hopefully you all will be able to come across the border in August.

on my way this afternoon.  Was up two weeks ago and the deer flies were relentless.  Hope to finally get out fishing.

Somehow, it seems JT doesn't have a plan for the re-opening...almost like the prospect of re-opening now caught his team by surprise. The benchmark numbers to do "this" or "that" keep moving. In other words...stalling until they have a reasonably workable plan in place. Probably the same on the US side.

There's a shot for late-July Hodgey...but September more likely a realistic expectation.

O.K.
So let's talk about the Delta Virus going through the Midwestern states as of July 6

Lets not talk about JT preventing the borders from opening.
Lets talk about these Midwestern states and how they might prevent the borders from opening.

How about we just lock these threads and let things fall into place naturally.

Only people down here getting and dying from the Delta (Animal House) variant now are the non-vaccinated. That doesn't mean the Lambda Lambda Lambda (Revenge of the Nerds) variant won't pop-up at any time...and if that happens, I guess we just need to write a screenplay with our free time....

I wrote this prior to John’s comments and when I pressed post I got a warning of a new message, so this has zero to do with his post and 100% prior to.

I’ve hit A brick wall, with all of it. I am sick of being sick of it.I know all the yada yada about lives being lost to Covid, but what about my Canadian fishing life?

I’m just kidding……….honest. 8)

The main stream news here is salivating and waiting to pounce on the next piece of bad news that they can spew all over the place. They have a vested monetary reason to keep the general public scared to death and glued to their dribble, lies and tones of doom.

The pieces of shirt can’t wait to find some new variant to scare everyone to pieces and I’m certain, they are seriously hoping for some new disaster to happen soon or better yet, a new virus to panic all of us with, while we stay tuned to watch the new tide detergent pods commercial.

HA HA HA HA HA!!! So funny and so true!!! HA HA HA HA HA!!!

From the beginning to the [hopeful] end, this whole thing is just stupid beyond words.

If I miss late-July, that's not ideal. If I miss September because of this BS, I'm having Mr. Rhybak meet me in Buffalo on his rig...I'm outta here. Fugitive.

The delta variant is giving the UK all sorts of difficulty. Within the states the trend downwards has stopped with 22% growth recently. Alabama has a 33% vaccination rate with 40% with one jab. Sadly they are not alone at the bottom. Vermont has an impressive 75% double vaccination rate. Canada's rate is 38% and will probably top out around Vermont's rate.

So what does a leader do? You open slowly as they are now doing allowing Canadians back who have the double vax without isolation in hotels. Keep an eye on the numbers and slow down if there is a resurgence. If things stay positive open a bit more...all the while vaccination rates head towards plateaus. Here in Ontario things continue to improve. It looks very good.
