600 miles north

I always enjoy looking at the kipawa area and seeing how much snow is on the ground every winter compared to where I live. Here is a quick link to the old sites government weather link if you also want to see how the winter is going up north.

http://weather.gc.ca/city/pages/qc-139_metric_e.html

If you scroll down to where it says record values/ historical weather near the bottom right side on the screen and click on historical weather it will give you present, monthly and historical data for any month.

Nice I use that site too but never noticed that.  I have been told the temperature is dropping to minus 15C this week

Hey Brad, great link, thanks for sharing!
My brother reports a good bit of snow on top of airport hill in north bay.
Here, down south of Ottawa, we have no real ground cover but have had a few small falls of snow that didn't stick.
We have a light fall this morning actually......

It is still extremely mild here in Ohio on Thanksgiving Day. Sunny and 60's, the next 10 days look to be fairly mild and no snow forecast anytime soon. No complaints here that is for sure.

Just got off the phone with Ralph from Chalet Diane.  Monday they got 6 inches of snow.  it was minus 20C. lol

If I can put things into perspective, today it was +2c, traces of snow only.  Very mild temps for this time of year, the weather networks are predicting a green Xmas but that remains to be seen, it wouldn't be the first in recent years.  It is has been very, very mild past few days and forecast is very mild for the next couple of weeks.  Thinking of putting the boat in again, lol.

Ty for that report Crunchie. I almost went to camp this weekend when I saw the weather report. I was wondering if any snow is on the ground. If this weather holds up I'm probably going up there next weekend. Is anything in season now? I doubt I'll put the boat back in the water but you never know.

Walleye is still open if you're fishing from a boat and not through the ice.  Trout closed sept 30 or around that date as usual.  But please check the Quebec regulations beforehand.

As far as snow on the ground, I would say nil to traces.  Hard to say in the bush because I haven't been since the end of October but in Temiscaming, all our lawns are bare.

TY Crunchie. I'm still thinking of going up, not sure now....temps hovering around freezing with snow both days. Maybe I'll grow some balls and go up anyway. It'll be nice to sit by a camp fire one more time this year, even in a parka.

Love this post Joe!
Nothing makes a person appreciate a good fire like a cold day at the camp:)
Be sure to add some Baileys to your morning coffee, that seems to go hand in hand with cold camp days too!

Still waiting for the colder weather and snow down here at home, next week has a day calling for 10DegC as a high:(

It's an el nino winter this year warmer and dry...little snow. After the last few winters I'll take. Don't much like the cold and snow anymore. But that's just me. Maybe I should get back into skiing or buy a sled for the camp.

I'm always interested in how much snow is on the ground, and ice thickness too.

I doubt if anyone wants to know what the weather was that I looked at today.  But my nearest lake is full of water!

Oarin

Were you in all that flooding down there?

SgtCrabby

Close enough;  the nearest lake about 5 miles away rose 15 feet in 24 hours and it was at normal level before.  All launches are closed darn it.
