Hey Puckster

Its great being retired.   Ya  have time, but it takes you 3 times as long as it used too, to get things done  LOL

There is always things that need to be done at camp  But sometimes  ya just hafta put things aside for r&r and fishing  That's why you have the camp.

Spring is always a busy time But I will be ready for the Walleye opener.

Some ppl get cell service on the lake? I don't get any service where I am at all. Had to resort to a satellite phone which can be unreliable and calls get dropped often. Better than nothing I guess in case of emergencies.

Cell phone service is hit or miss on Hunter's Lake. I've had 2 bars sometimes or none at all...can't even text. Depends on cloud cover, high or low pressure, your carrier etc...

As for me: I dropped some equipment off 2 weekends ago at camp but never really did anything. Last weekend, I helped Whitey finish his dock at the end of Windy lake road. Lake level rose 6 inches in 48 hours.

This Friday going in to put the spare boats in the water, hook up the water, fill the tank....spring maintenance. Might get to fish for lakers too. Trying to convince my wife to come in with my son and I.

I'm hosting 10 guys on the 19-20-21-22 for the Dupagne classic. 40th anniversary or 10th depending how you look at it.

I'm setting up with explorenet. It's expensive, lets see how reliable it's gonna be....

So far they're having a hard time getting an installer to my camp.

Why do you need cell service out there?  I go to get away.

As we were flying to Dumoine back in 04, 05 or 06, my friend's son, a US Marine stationed
in Brazil with security for the US State Dept there, got a cell signal while we were in the old Otter.

He called his girlfriend in Brasilia, and got voicemail!!!

Heading to Kikwissi to arrive 6/11, I think.....no fly ins makes it tough for an old
guy....am now pushing 71 and my vehicle is older in dog years....

Cheers JMW

I agree JMW;   no cell service is a plus.

For emergencies,  our outfitter has a satellite phone.

It's a little different when your at your own place almost every other week. As well as spending most of your holidays there.

Yes  When you are living there its nice to have My cell service is non existent  at camp,  So I have a land line and Xplornet.

Puckster the Xplornet installer that did mine got lost 2 times trying to find me  You will hafta lead him in by the hand

But the service is pretty good not the fastest but for surfing, emails and you tube it works just fine

If you have a clear line of sight to the SW sky you should be good to go

Ahh, now I get it:
You want service because that your home part of the year,
where a casual visitor like me wants to be off the net.

It makes sense now.

I really only use my phone to text my wife I've arrived and then tell her I'm heading home.
She worries about me. ::)

I can't agree more! My work life is being attached at the hip 24-7 via a cell phone and part of what I am looking forward to being at Kipawa is not having service.  :D

Oh and 65 days and counting!
Walleye Rock!

64 days left until we take off for Watson Lake once again.  There are seven of us this year...all veteran Quebec travelers and all looking forward to it.  Having our first planning meeting this Saturday...seems like the planning is as much a tradition as the trip itself and, although very little changes from year to year, the anticipation still makes it fun.  We will do some planning, tell stories (the same ones we always tell), have a few drinks and food, play cards and just plain enjoy the friendship.
